Recommendation:
For having distinguished himself in battle by eminent acts of courage tact, and loyalty as a soldier, posted to the Dutch Detachment United Nations in Korea, in the night of February 14 to 15, 1951 at Manyong near Wonju when he, acting as runner for the officer in command of some 4 assembled platoons of this Detachment, overexhausted as they were as a result of earlier fighting in extremely hazardous circumstances during 3 repeated attacks on the dominant Hill 325, strongly defended by the enemy, reported voluntarily and in the end risked his life in the executions of his duties as a runner and shortly before he was killed he was the first to enter the enemy position on the hill in the third and decisive bajonet attack, thereby loyally covering his commander who accompanied him.
