Biography

Reserve Captain Willem Jacob Dethmers was severely wounded on 10 May 1940 while fighting German paratroopers near the Zeedijk in Dordrecht. On 25 May, he died of his injuries at the Hospital in Dordrecht. Some of his uniforms are still on display in the Museum 40-45 Dordrecht.
