He has distinguished himelf in combat against the enemy on August 12, 1947, commanding an action against a band of terrorists in the Sumedang region near Tjibatu on western Java.
In particular by personally and entirely on his own having taken to safety a corporal belonging to his group of Commando’s who had been seriously injured by enemy fire in an observationpost some 10 yards away and in doing so, having saved this corporal from certain death.
