The 2./Sturmgeschütz-Brigade 209 participated in the fighting along the Narew at the start of September 1944. Oberwachtmeister Schmidt was present when the Batterie sealed off a penetration in the sector of the 541. Infanterie-Divison in the period 07-09.09.1944. When the Soviets crossed the Narew on 11.10.1944 the Batterie was of the utmost importance for supporting the German infantry.
