Awarded for his actions during Operation Habicht, a German attempt to retake Sélestat and the commanding heights around Ribeauvillé. Leutnant Krebs was present in the German group moving against Ribeauvillé, which consisted of a Grenadier-Regiment and the Heeres-Gebirgs-Jäger-Bataillon 201. Here he particularly distinguished himself during an operation far behind hostile lines on the 12.12.1944 (which he led with extraordinary bravery and skill in the process) as well as in the successful attack on Kinzheim/Elsaß. In this latter engagement he would die in battle at the head of his men.

Awarded posthumously.
