He enlisted in the "Army Air Corps" in early 1944. After D Day, the USA was looking for more infantry soldiers and drafted him from the Army Air Corps to the regular Army. He was given basic training here in the States and sent to Europe arriving in late March, 1945. He was killed on April 15th, just three weeks from the end of the war.
