Lloyd R. Smith was born on July 25th, 1925 as son to Harold R. Smith and Elizabeth B. (Tichenor) Smith. On December 1st, 1942 he enlisted at Newark. At first serving with a medical unit he volunteered for service with the airborne troops.
He served as Medic with the rank of Private 1st Class in C Company, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment. He was killed in action at Opheusden, the Netherlands on October 6th, 1944.
