Biography

Hainline was killed when his B17 bomber was shot down over the Kiel, Germany area after a bombing run on January 5, 1945. Henry was the co-pilot of the B17 Deacon's Sinners airplane, which was hit in the wing by a Messerschmitt 109 which put the plane into a spin. Ray Matheny and Arnold Nevells were the only survivors and were taken prisoner.

Henry's plane and crew were found by German villagers who first buried them in the local church cemetery. He was the brother of Joe Hainline.
