Biography

Son of Generalmajor Karl Marquard Viktor Graf von Kageneck.
Commanding the III. Bataillon of Infanterie Regiment 18 as sole senior surviving Lieutenant, Count Franz Joseph von Kageneck was shot through the head for a second time during the street fighting at Schitinkovo the day after he learned that his wife the Princess of Bavaria had given birth to twin sons.
Died of his wounds in Feldlazerett 6, Lkb. 1893 in Staritza.
Promoted Hauptmann posthumously
