Biography

Frederick was born on January 25 1920 in Toronto, the son of Charles and Elizabeth Petherbridge (both deceased) and his father remarried after the death of his mother with Clara Petherbridge of Toronto and she became therefore his stepmother. He was married on April 10 1942 in Glasgow Scotland with Christina Duff Petherbridge nee Kelly, of Glasgow. Christina remarried later as Mrs. Pilon. His sister was Mrs. Patricia Mitchell nee Petherbridge.

He was a salesman and member of the Roman Catholic Church.

He enlisted on July 5 1940 in Toronto and he went thereafter on April 19 1941 overseas to the UK.

Frederick was killed in action on Wednesday August 19 1942 age 22 during the operation Jubilee on Dieppe in France. His body washed ashore on September 20 1942 later near Rochelle France.

He served with the Royal Regiment of Canada.
