"For gallantry in action while serving with the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82d Airborne Division, in action on 25 September 1944, near the Wall River, at ****, Holland. After crossing the Waal River, Private First Class Iacolino volunteered to carry a vital message from the battalion commander to the lead company in the assault on the northern approaches of the bridge. With utter disregard for his own safety, he dodged from cover to cover through enemy sniper, small arms and mortar fire of great intensity. Private First Class Iacolino was a continuous target for the enemy, but he succeeded in delivering his message, and returned with the answer that instructions had been carried out. The dogged determination and courageous devotion to duty displayed by Private First Class Iacolino enabled Company I to successfully execute the instructions and reflect high credit on the Airborne Forces of the United States Army."
