Marker Union Field Hospital (Oak Grove House)

The Oak Grove House was an Union field hospital during the Battle of Averasboro. After the war, the house was transferred to this location. First, it stood on the other side of the road. On the original location is this marker.
In the Battle of Averasboro, on 16 and 17 March 1865, 26,000 Union soldiers fought against 8,000 Confederates. The Union lost about 650 men (dead, wounded, missing or captured), the Confederates about 800 men.
