Naval Gun Mk33 USS San Jose

Mk33, 3"/50 caliber Twin Naval Guns from the USS San Jose (AFS-7) located in front of the Association of Vietnam Veterans of America Headquarters in the village of Mangilao, Guam.

This battery is one of two that sat at the bow of the USS San Jose (AFS-7). In 1993 the San Jose was transferred to the Military Sealift Command and was redesignated USNS San Jose (T-AFS-7), at this time her guns were removed. The San Jose was stationed in Guam during the late 1980s and early 1990s supporting the United States Seventh Fleet. The San Jose service from 1970-2010 and was involved in the Vietnam War, the Persian Gulf War, INTERFET peacekeeping taskforce, 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
