Resistance Memorial for Raymond Lepouse

À
Ray. Lepouse
Soldat de la Résistance.
"My vie
plutôt que mon secret."
21-7-1944

Raymond Lepouse was a strong member of the Resistance. He was arrested on 20 July 1944, then interrogated, hands tied behind his back, on the 3rd floor of the Liège law court building. Rather than reveal the names of his companions, he threw himself out the window. He fell head-first 6 meters to the pavement and died the next day. The monument is located exactly where he fell.

The memorial epitaph reflects his sacrifice: my life rather than my secret.

The memorial was installed on 7 May 1993 at the initiative of the newspaper "La Meuse."
