Stumbling Stone Middenraai 48

Lived here:

Geert Stukje, farmer
born January 28, 1896 in Wildervank
died from deprivation June 9, 1945 in Lubtheem

Landguards Auke Pattist and Dirk Hoogendam from Hollandscheveld were looking for the farmer. Last year, people in hiding were hidden in the farm. One of those people in hiding was recently arrested. Presumably, he succumbed to the torture of the Germans, and he gave the name of the farmer.
Stukje is a deacon of the Reformed Church, a board member of the potato flour factory Avebe and involved in the Reformed school in Noordscheschut. In addition, he regularly attends meetings of the local branch of the ARP.
