At Thijhof Cemetery in Steenwijkerwold is a Monument for the soldiers who died in the Dutch East Indies between 1945 and 1962.

This concerns the following soldiers:

J. Pijlman
H. Dapper
K. Knol
J. ten Veen
from Steenwijk

B. Spin
B.C.S ter Schure
P.J. Eilers
T. Nijsingh
J.M. Harmsma
from Steenwijkerwold

among these soldiers, four were killed of the 600-man Battalion Margriet Infantry Regiment. The many conscripts came from Steenwijk and the surrounding area.
