Commonwealth War Grave General Cemetery Veenendaal

The General Cemetery of Veenendaal contains one Commonwealth burial. This is the grave of the Canadian Pilot Harold Frederick Wakeman of the 197 squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force. Wakeman crashed on October 5th 1944 at 13.00 hrs with his Typhoon IB JR366 in Ederveen, north of Veenendaal. The 197 squadron purpose was to support the Canadian ground troops from the sky. This was done by shootings and light bombings on German targets.
