Field Cathedral of the Polish Army

This cathedral was scene heavy fighting during the Warsaw Uprising of 1944. At the same time the cellars of the monastery and the crypts beneath the church were used as a provisional field hospital and the western tower was used as an observation post. The cathedral, along with the field hospital, were destroyed by the Luftwaffe on 20 August 1944.
