Bullet Holes Spuiplein

The bulletholes in the apartments above Café De Pul were made by machinegun-fire from German tanks. In front of the café (known as Café Wilhelmina in 1940) was a Dutch PAG (Anti-tank gun). On 13 May 1940, it was eliminated by German tanks which advanced from the Spuiweg. In the café itself was a Dutch commandpost, of major Kloppenburg of II-1- RW.
