War Memorial Seraing 'Le Beau Site’

The war memorial in the “Le Beau Site” district of Seraing commemorates the military and civilian victims of World War II.

Commemorated are

ANTOINE Jean-Baptise, age 29, from Ougrée, soldier in the 31st Line Regiment, killed in action in Emblem on May 16, 1940.

BEAUJEAN Albert, age 21, from Ougrée, soldier with the atelier de réparation de charroi automobile (A.R.C.A.), died of wounds in Roeselare on May 24, 1940.

NELIS François, no details known.

PAULET Gaston, age 25, from Ougrée, soldier in the 1st regiment Cylistes Fronières, killed May 12, 1940 at Noville (Luxembourg).

BROUNS Fernand, no details known.

CELIS Raymond, aged 19 !, resistent with the Armée Secret, executed at Ougrée on September 22, 1943, buried near the Citadelle of Liège.

CHAMPAGNE Albert, age 25, resistent of the Armée Secret, executed in Velm on September 22, 1943, buried near the Citadelle of Liège.

KLUM Rapaël, age 42, from Ougrée, soldier with the Armée Secret, died on May 11, 1945 ! (4 days after the total surrender of Germany) at Bergen-Belsen. Apparently, soldier Klum was so weakened by the conditions and hardships in the POW camp of Bergen-Belsen (Germany) that he could not be saved.
