Brothers in Arms Monument Blosville

Next to the monument from the temporary American cemetery Blosville is a monument which commemorates the "Brothers in Arms" These brothers were Sam M. Gibbons, 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division and Myron G. Gibbons, 320th Infantry Regiment, 35th Infantry Division.

Captain Sam M.Gibbons landed by parachute just outside Blosville on D-Day to secure the D70 and N13. After D-Day Sam Gibbons fought in Market Garden, Bastogne, captured Berchtesgaden and liberated Dachau.

Sergeant Myron G. Gibbons landed on Omaha Beach on July 11, 1944 and fought in the Battle of St Lo and the battle for Hill 317. He was wounded three times.

Sam Gibbons died on October 10, 2012 at the age of 92.
Myron Gibbons died on November 30, 1989 at the age of 67.
