War Memorial 12th Line Neeravert

The monument on Neeravert was already there at the end of 1914. It bore a French text and was destroyed in 1985 and replaced by a similar monument with a Dutch text. The tile with the emblem of the 12th Line and the slogan "A l'avant garde", was unveiled on September 29, 2014, the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Neeravert, by the then Corps Commander of the 12/13th Line and the then Mayor van Londerzeel, Jozef De Borger.

The monument was placed on Neeravert, on the spot where the platoons of sub-lieutenant Van Calck (killed in the fighting at this location) and adjutant Wouters (heavily wounded here) were in position during the Battle of Londerzeel.

Text on the monument:
"Commemoration of the soldiers of the 12th Line, who fell on the battlefield of Londerzeel on September 29, 1914.

They died as true Belgians by giving their young lives for the freedom of our dear homeland.

Pray for them.
They rest in peace. "
