Memorial Halifax LV831-ZL-P and Halifax MZ295-AL-Y Baisy-Thy

On 27 May 1944 left from Leeming airbase (GB) , the Halifax LV831 and the Halifax MZ295. Both with the same mission, namely an attack on a German military base in Leopoldsburg. Following a mid-air collision between the two Halifax bombers, the aircrafts crashed down into Baisy-Thy. All crew members died.

Seven crew members were killed in the LV 831: P/O Frank Devereaux, P/O Norman Stephenson, F/O Roy Ford, Sgt Basil Roach, P/O John Brown, Sgt Richard Edwards and P/O Kenneth Patience.
Seven crew members were also killed in the MZ295: P/O Carman Ross, P/O Elmer Bailey, F/O Moses Rabovsky, Sgt Norman Hornby, P/O Bruce Dunlop, P/O Paul Coltman and P/O Lloyd Kirton.
