Crypt Cemetery Andenne

In 1921, the city council decided to build a crypt in the municipal cemetery of Andenne for fighters and deportees who died for the homeland. This crypt is the symbolic equivalent of the burial place of the executed civilians on the bank of the Maas. She was solemnly dedicated on Sunday, May 9, 1926.
The memorial is located at the entrance of the communal cemetery. A staircase leads to the crypt under a concrete cover slab with a vertical stone stele at the edge. The names and ages of the deceased are on six small steles around a higher stone with a sword and a laurel wreath, respectively. the signs of victory and immortality. On the monument is the inscription: "Aux morts pour la patrie 1914-1918" ["To the dead for the fatherland 1914-1918"]. After World War II, the statement "1940-1945" was added.
