Belgian War Graves Bazel

The municipal cemetery of Basel also contains some graves of fallen.

Frans VAN BRITSOM : killed in action in Kwatrecht on 21 May 1940.
He was adjutant to the 5th Line 3rd Battalion 11th Comp. 37th platoon.
He was killed during the 2nd day of the battle at Bruggenhoofd Gent.
He was hit and died instantly. His companion Embrechts thought he was only injured and tried to pick him up by jumping from crater to crater.
He was also fatally injured.

In addition, the grave of a 2nd fallen Richard DE CLEEN, who died in 1940 and is mentioned on the memorial plaque at the church in Basel.

The cemetery in Basel also contains 2 graves of war victims:

BRYS René (1925-1944) and BAEYENS Marcel (1913-1944).
