Memorial Halifax MZ-715

This memorial is on the municipal cemetery of Dodewaard. It can be found opposite the graves of two RAF crew members. On the night of June 16/17, 1944 their aircraft, Halifax MZ-715, exploded for unknown reasons. One crew member survived the disaster. Four crew members were buried in Uden shortly after the crash. Flight Sergeant Alfred John Burns, RAAF, 424711, June 17, 1944, age 21 and Flight Sergeant Patrick Edward Thomas Tiernan, RAAF, 426711, June 17, 1944, age 29 are buried towid]19146,here[/towid] because their bodies could not be recovered until later.
