Monument Landswerf Medemblik

The Landswerf war memorial was unveiled on 27 January 2017 by Mayor Streng van Medemblik. The monument stands in front of the former Provincial Hospital for male psychiatric patients.

This war memorial consists of two parts. A stainless steel part with peace doves carved in it. This part is about the resistance of Wieger Boonstra, Pieter Franciscus Brittijn and Roelof Tiede Oost in the hospital.
The second part is about the persecution of the Jews in Medemblik. This is depicted with a wooden briefcase with a broken Star of David.
