War Museum Medemblik

War Museum Medemblik is open at the following times:
Tuesday to Saturday 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Sunday 12:30 pm to 5:00 pm
Monday closed (Open by appointment)

The museum is accessible with the Museum Card.

There are two exhibitions about the Second World War to visit:
- 'Road to Freedom' about the military side.
- 'Choices in Almersdorp' about the civil side.

You can visit our museum in the traditional way by looking around freely and reading the stories, but do you really want to experience the storyline as the museum team set it up? Then we definitely recommend that you book one of the 2 Experience Tours according to the Escaperoom concept. Discover the (local) Second World War stories in an interactive way. Fun and educational for young and old!

An Experience Tour lasts 2 hours and you choose a time slot: 10:00, 12:30 or 15:00. Make sure you are present no later than fifteen minutes before the time slot. The rest of the day (before/after the Experience Tour) you can freely look around the entire museum.

How are you going to visit the museum?
1: Look around entrance (traditional museum visit)
2: Entrance + Experience 'Choices in Almersdorp'
3: Entrance + Experience 'Road to Freedom'

Tip: book your ticket(s) in advance because of the the use of time slots for the Experience Tours in the museum. If you come by on spec without booking, the time slots may already be full, we would of course like to avoid this disappointment.

For more information, booking tickets and current ticket prices, see www.warsmuseummedemblik.nl
Would you like to pay an educational visit to the museum with your primary or secondary school class? See our website for the possibilities and more information.

*Information about the 2 Experience Tours*

'Road to Freedom'
- Age advice from 12+, duration 2 hours -
Discover the way to freedom by stepping into 'the shoes' of a soldier and experience unknown but very important operations that were necessary for our freedom now!
This is how you help 'Jimmy Spencer' check cargo that had to be transported to the 3 million soldiers on the Western Front and why we know almost nothing about this very important operation due to exclusion. You will also learn all about emergency bridges and the Combat Engineers who made these 'literal' bridges to freedom and you will complete several missions alone or with your group.

'Choices in Almersdorp'
- Suitable for all ages, duration: 2 hours -
The exhibition 'Choices in Almersdorp' takes place in a village built in the 1940s style. What choices do you make? Discover the local WWII stories in this 1940s village.
As a visitor (or as a student with our educational programs) you can discover the local WWII stories in this 1940s village through the interactive Experience Tour. For example, you will decipher code sentences from Radio-Orange, you will look for the secret passage, you will do black barter, you will discover the hidden attic, etc.
