Commemorative Stone Bridge Westerhoven

Little bridge in Westerhoven on the Borkelsedijk over the Keersop was destroyed by the retreating Dutch army on 19 May 1940.

On June 24, 1940, Mayor Baken became ill and Johan van Bokhoven was appointed as a replacement.
On July 22, 1941, van Bokhoven actually became the new mayor. So one of his 1st assignments was the rebuilding of this bridge.

Inscription in the railing stated "Destroyed 19/5/1940, Rebuilt 1941, Johan van Bokhoven, Mayor".
