Stützpunkt 108 Heeres-Küsten-Batterie Saint-Martin-de-Varreville

In the year of 1942, HKB 316 was installed at Saint-Martin-de-Varreville, with 4 x 10,5cm K331 b(f) (Canon de 105 mle 1913 Schneider ) canons.
During 1943, the guns were replaced by four Russian 12.2cm K.390/2(r) canons, in the same year. The name changed into Stützpunkt 108 Heeres-Küsten-Batterie Saint-Martin-de-Varreville.
A few days before D-day, the battery was heavily bombed, resulting in the redrawing of the 1ste battery of HKAR 1261, so that the 502nd PIR could take it without a fight on June, 6th 1944.
The remains of the battery lie on private land and the bunkers are completely or partially overgrown.
