Plaque Provincial House Utrecht

A plaque in memory of Gerrit-Jan van Deventer hangs in the central hall of the Provincial House of Utrecht. He was born on June 17, 1894 in Zwolle. Van Deventer worked for the province of Utrecht as a civil servant. In World War II he was involved in the resistance and as a result of his resistance activities he was arrested in 1941. He first spent time in Buchenwald concentration camp and was later transferred to Sachsenhausen concentration camp. There he died on December 1, 1942.
