Memorial Church Tienhoven

There is a plaque on the facade of the church in Tienhoven.
This is a sign to the right of the entrance of the church (side of the cemetery at the bottom of the dike). This plaque tells the story of two Allied soldiers who fell during Operation Market Garden. They were taken out of the water near the church and their bodies stood in state for some time in this church building. The two soldiers were Canadian engineer H.C. (Harold Cecil) Magnusson and the Polish parachutist C. Gajewnik.

Contrary to what is stated on the sign, the Polish parachutist Gajewnik is now buried at the Arnhem Oosterbeek Commonwealth War Cemetery.
