Photo Location Weisse Rose Orleanstrasse 61

One of the most famous photographs related to the German resistance group Weisse Rose was taken at this spot near the Ostbahnhof. Sophie Scholl stands hanging against a fence and with her are Hubert Furtwängler, Hans Scholl, Raimund Samiller and Alexander Schmorell. The men are wearing the uniform of the Wehrmacht as they stand ready to be deployed as military nurses. The photo was taken on 23 July 1942. The fence in the photo is still in the same place, but there are plans to transfer it to a museum. There is a information board on the wall of Orleansstrasse 61.
