French Cemetery 1813 - 1814 Limbricht

In Limbricht on the corner of Pagestraat and Burg. Nelissenstraat is a monument erected for sick French soldiers who were nursed in Limbricht Castle in 1813 and 1814 and a number of them died.

The plaque reads:

14.11.1813 - 14.01.1814
On their return from the battle of nations
at Leipzig, 7,000 fell ill
French soldiers are ambushed by Pastor Page and his parishioners nursed in Limbricht Castle.

Died and buried in the French cemetery 683 soldiers and 73 parishioners.
