War Memorial Wallace J. Horton, L Hoffman and Other Victims

In front of the house is a monument that commemorates Wallace J. Horton who was killed by machine gun fire at the crossing on September 13 during the liberation of Voeren by the 119th infantry regiment, Company A of the 30th Division.
Wallace Horton is buried in Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery, Plot H, row 7, grave 32.

In addition, this memorial also commemorates the 30th Division that liberated Voeren as well as the soldiers and civilians of Voeren who fell during the Second World War.

This monument also mentions G.I. Hoffman L. who was killed on a field road between Voeren and Mesch (NL) on September 12th 1944. Pvt. Hoffman is buried in Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery (B).

(G.I. is an abbreviation used for various U.S. Army properties. Government Issue. Later it was also used to refer to the common soldier).
