German Concrete Road National Park Kennemerland

The image shows the concrete road, which was still completely intact when the photo was taken, and a passing port of this road. At the time, there were 4 of these fallback areas along the concrete road. Later, the entire road, including passing ports, was demolished and rebuilt with clinkers instead of concrete.

Part of the road towards the coastal strip is now covered by a drifting sand ridge and is no longer passable. The drifting sand ridges in the area are a result of changed policy.

The road was part of the concrete infrastructure around the Langerak Coastal Battery (also covered by drifting sand). Although the road and the passing ports no longer exist in their original concrete state, they can still be found in the landscape.
