Memorials Municipality Vaux-sous-Chèvremont

Memorial at the wall of the municipality of Vaux-sous-Chèvremont to remember and commemorate the military and civilian victims of the First and the Second World War.

Somewhat confusing the memorial plate of 1944-1945 speaks about 'victimes des robots'. (photograph 4)

The name 'robot' is the typical name which was in use by the citizens of Liège and surrounding villages for the V1 (flying bomb) and V2 (rocket) of the Germans. By the end of the war the city of Liège was a constant target for these so called 'robots'. It refers tot the typical sound of the motor.
