French War Grave Saint-Pancré

At the end of August 1914 there was the "Battle of the Borders", the first confrontation with the German troops who moved to France via Belgium.
At the beginning of this invasion, many innocent civilians fell victim to German atrocities.
In Saint-Pancré, a small French village just across the border with Belgium, on August 22, 1914 the Imperial German Army killed 10 civilians and destroyed 27 houses.

The small cemetery contains the graves of several citizens:
"LEPAGE Jean-Pierre
GILLET Paul
REMER Jean Joseph
Victims of the war
August 22, 1914"
