Memorial Halifax HR687 EY-G

On the night of March 5 to 6, 1943, Handley Page Halifax II HR687 EY-G of 78 Sqdn RAF crashed at this location. The aircraft had taken off from the English airfield Linton-on-Ouse and was shot down by a German night fighter. Three crew members were killed:

Pilot P/O. J.R. Thompson
Wireless Operator F/Sgt. A.E. Blackwell
Mid-Upper Gunner Sgt. E.C.B. Williams

They are buried at the New General Cemetery of Rouveen.
