German Memorial 'German Bird'
Thsi memorial is an original German memorial from World War II which commemorates the fallen German paratroopers in Maleme, Galatas, Kastelli and Chania on Crete, who died between 20 and 28 May 1941.
The memorial is also known as Germaniko Pouli (German Bird). Until 2000 a stone eagle stood on it. Nowadays the memorial is seriously damaged by vandalism.
