In the early morning of Saturday 25 March 1944, the British Lancaster bomber Mk ll B671 OF-A of 97 Squadron RAF crashed near this spot. The aircraft had taken off from RAF Bourn the previous evening and was on its way back from an attack on Berlin. Over the Netherlands, it was intercepted by a German Messerschmidt Bf 110 night fighter of Leutnant Achim Woeste of Stab III./NJG 3 and caught fire. It exploded between Weebosch and Luycksgestel killing the seven-member crew:
