HMAS Perth (D38), the second ship to bear that name, was the lead ship of the Perth class guided missile destroyers built in the U.S. for the Royal Australian Navy, entering service in 1965. From 1967-1971 she served 3 deployments in Vietnam theatre of operations being hit by shore fire on one occasion. She also supported the U.S. fleet during the Iraq-Iran war in the 1980s. Decommissioned in 1999, she was stripped and scuttled as a dive wreck in King George Sound in 2001.
