Memorial Murdered Jewish Students Lycée Carnot

This memorial at the entrance of Lycée Carnot commemorates the school's Jewish students who, like 11,000 other Jewish children from France, were deported and murdered by the Nazis during World War II.

The black granite plaque has the following text:

'In memory of the pupils from the Lycee Carnot who were deported between 1943 and 1944 and murdered in the extermination camps because they were born Jewish.

More than 11,000 children were deported from France, innocent victims of the Vichy government, an accomplice of Nazi barbarism.

More than 400 of them lived in the Alpes Maritimes.

In their memory, let us reject any attack on human dignity'
