Dating from the late 19th century, this hotel housed the headquarters of the PPF (Parti Populaire Français) action groups during World War II. These action groups also known as the GAPPF (Groupes d'action du Parti Populaire Français) emerged from the PPF collaborating with the Germans and operated on behalf of the Gestapo and the Sicherheitsdienst. They hunted resistance fighters and Jews whom they extradited to the Germans, but they themselves were also responsible for brutal interrogations and executions. Notorious places in Cannes that they used for their interrogations and torture were Villa Conchita and Villa Montfluery.
