SAS Paratroopers Memorial Plumelec

This monument commemorates the 77 French paratroopers who died during Operation Dingson in Brittany. Among them were Captain Marienne and six of his men who were captured and executed. The names of the fallen are engraved on the wall of the monument in Lorraine crosses.

The aim of this operation by the French section of the SAS was to arm and organise the resistance in Brittany after D-Day and to work together behind enemy lines to thwart the Germans as much as possible and disrupt their response to the invasion.

Next to the monument, there is a small exhibition about the operation in the La Grée mill.
