In 1940, the office of the First-Attendance Board was located at this address. The Defence Line of Amsterdam fell under the control of three First-Attendance Boards, each commanded by a major. They built, managed, and demolished war infrastructure within their respective areas. Service groups were supervised by a Chief of Staff (OVF), who sometimes worked independently from their own home.
Shortly after the Second World War, this address housed the office of Engineer Officer Van Dooden, who was tasked with dismantling defenses and facilitating the transfer of German terrain and buildings. Van Dooden commanded four sub-offices: Naarden, Nieuwersluis, Utrecht, and the Lek River.
