Stelling van Amsterdam - National Warehouse of Medicines

The Rijks Magazijn (National Warehouse) was a pharmaceutical factory and military pharmacy, supplying Zaandam and other cities. Its purpose was to provide medical supplies to colonies, garrisons, prisons, naval hospitals, military institutions, and ships of the Royal Netherlands Navy.

The U-shaped building (45 × 60 m) housed offices, workshops, warehouses, and a narrow-gauge railway to the Singelgracht canal.

In 1923, military pharmacists were active in seven cities. During WWII, the Wehrmacht used the building. Since 2009, its successor, the Military Medical Logistics Center (MGLC), has been located in Heerenveen.
