On April 15, 1916, this building housed the offices of the Voluntary Landstorm Corps, Motor, Vessel, and Vehicle Department, Amsterdam. The Voluntary Landstorm consisted of volunteers who could be called up during mobilizations to replace losses sustained by the militia and the army.
