This monument commemorates the soldiers of Combat Group A of the 9th American Armoured Division who, during the Ardennes offensive, succeeded in halting the German advance at this location on 20 December 1944.
The text on the plaque reads:
“On December 18th, 1944 the German attack on the Ardennes was stopped on the Ermsdorf-Savelborn-Waldbillig-Christnach line by soldiers of the units below in Combat Group "A" of the 9th Armored Division, U.S.A. :
