Control Bunker Ockenburgh (Dummy Airfield 19)

Immediately after the May days of 1940, the Germans started using Ockenburgh airfield as dummy airfield number 19. These dummy airfields served to mislead Allied pilots and thus divert attention from the real Luftwaffe airfields. These airfields were equipped with fake aircraft, fake hangars and lighting. The lighting at the airfield was controlled from this bunker, among other things. The dummy airfield was bombed several times. As the war progressed, the Allies became increasingly adept at distinguishing between the real and dummy airfields.
